Rehabilitation

If you have suffered a personal injury and it wasn’t your fault, as well as the process of litigation to secure financial compensation it is crucial that your personal well-being is also taken care of.

Whereas in the past, Lawyers had to focus all their efforts on securing lump sum compensation at the conclusion of a case (which could take several years), today under the 2007 Rehabilitation Code, the quality of life for the claimant is of primary concern.

The code aims to ensure that if a person who has sustained personal injury will benefit from rehabilitation, then the insurer or compensator will be notified as early as possible. The process will begin with the claimant’s needs being assessed by an expert and if the insurer feels that the cost of the rehabilitation recommended is fair, they will pay immediately and get the ball rolling.

It is hoped that early rehabilitation will result in the claimant recovering sooner and more fully and mean that they can return to a normal life as quickly as possible, rather than waiting until the conclusion of the case.
